The Winterport Water District is informing its residential customers that they will be required to install an approved backflow prevention device on their service line when an interruption in service occurs. This backflow device is referred to as a dual check valve assembly. This device must be installed on the service line directly after our meter. An expansion tank may be required; your plumber can best advise you on this matter. A licensed plumber must install this device.
