Fire Hydrant Flushing

Hydrant Flushing helps to improve water quality in Winterport's water system.

Fire hydrant flushing is done to remove any sediment or stagnant water from the distribution system and to test fire hydrant operation. These steps are being taken to improve the overall water quality within the Winterport distribution system and to insure the delivery of the highest quality of water possible. The Winterport Water District will be flushing water mains during the daytime hours during the spring and fall.  Be aware that this procedure may cause some disturbances and discoloration in the water system.  Customers in low-pressure areas may experience a further drop in pressure.

The staff and the trustees of the Winterport Water District appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to call our office at 223-5028.
